Antilux 654 is an anti-check wax supplied by Rhein Chemie (Lanxess), designed for use in rubber compounds to provide protection against ozone and weathering influences. The product is a blend of selected paraffins and micro-waxes with a medium-broad molecular weight distribution. Due to its controlled solubility characteristics, Antilux 654 migrates to the surface of vulcanized rubber, forming a continuous protective film. This film helps reduce surface cracking caused by ozone exposure and environmental aging.
The protective layer remains stable under service temperatures ranging from approximately -10 °C to 50 °C and shows good stability under dynamic stress conditions. During migration, Antilux 654 can also carry antiozonants and antioxidants to the surface of the vulcanizate. The product is supplied in pastille or flake form, supporting easier weighing and mixing during rubber compounding. Antilux 654 is commonly used in tires and various technical rubber articles where controlled surface protection is required under moderate to elevated service temperatures.
