Chemlok 402 is a solvent-based, one-coat adhesive developed by LORD Parker for bonding a wide range of unvulcanized elastomers to textile substrates during vulcanization. The adhesive formulation consists of polymers, organic compounds, and fillers dispersed in an organic solvent system. It is designed to eliminate the need for isocyanate dips or textile pretreatments in many rubber-to-textile bonding processes.
Chemlok 402 is commonly used in the manufacture of textile-reinforced rubber products where consistent adhesion between fabric and rubber is required. The adhesive is suitable for bonding natural rubber (NR), polyisoprene (IR), styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), polybutadiene (BR), polychloroprene (CR), nitrile rubber (NBR), and butyl rubber (IIR) to textile substrates including polyester, polyamide, cotton, rayon, and polyaramid.
Once dried, the adhesive film becomes tack-free, allowing treated fabrics or cords to be handled and processed prior to vulcanization. The product may also be used as an additive in tie cements as a replacement for isocyanates in certain rubber-to-textile bonding systems.
