DTDM (4,4′-Dithiodimorpholine) is a sulfur-donating accelerator widely used in rubber compounding systems. It functions as a delayed-action curing agent and sulfur donor, enabling controlled vulcanization with improved processing safety. DTDM is typically used in natural rubber (NR) and synthetic rubber formulations where reversion resistance and stable crosslink structures are required.
Unlike conventional sulfur systems, DTDM contributes sulfur gradually during curing, resulting in more stable monosulfidic and disulfidic crosslinks. This helps maintain consistent properties during prolonged heat exposure and reduces the risk of over-curing. It is commonly incorporated in semi-efficient (semi-EV) and efficient vulcanization (EV) systems.
DTDM is supplied as a white crystalline powder, allowing ease of dispersion during mixing. It is compatible with a range of accelerators and activators, making it suitable for technical rubber goods, molded components, and industrial rubber products.
