HNBR (Hydrogenated Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) is a specialty synthetic elastomer produced by hydrogenation of Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR). This modification improves resistance to heat, oxidation and chemical ageing compared with conventional nitrile rubber grades. HNBR is commonly selected for molded and extruded rubber components used in demanding industrial environments where oil resistance and durability are required.
The material is widely processed through standard rubber compounding methods including mixing, extrusion, calendaring and compression or injection molding, subject to suitable curing systems. Depending on grade, HNBR may be supplied with varying acrylonitrile content, Mooney viscosity and cure compatibility. It is used across automotive, industrial sealing, oilfield, roller covering and engineering rubber goods sectors.
