MBI Rubber Antioxidant (2-Mercaptobenzimidazole) – HYCO

MBI Rubber Antioxidant white powder for rubber compounding
Product Overview

MBI Rubber Antioxidant is a secondary antioxidant based on 2-Mercaptobenzimidazole (CAS No. 583-39-1), widely used in natural and synthetic rubber compounds. It is a non-staining, non-discoloring material primarily employed as a synergistic additive in combination with amine and phenolic antioxidants.

MBI is used to improve heat ageing resistance and to counteract the effects of metallic contaminants such as copper and manganese in rubber formulations. It is suitable for applications in EPDM, NBR, SBR, CR and other elastomer systems. In addition to rubber applications, MBI can also function as a heat stabilizer in certain polyolefin systems such as polyethylene and polypropylene.

The product is generally incorporated during the mixing stage of compounding and is compatible with commonly used antioxidant systems.
