Naphthenic Oil (RPO 501 / RPO 541) is a petroleum-derived rubber process oil based on cycloparaffinic (naphthenic) hydrocarbon structures. It is designed for use in rubber compounding where balanced solvency, lubricity, and processing consistency are required. Compared to paraffinic oils, naphthenic oils offer improved solvency characteristics, supporting better interaction with rubber polymers and additives.
This grade is composed predominantly of cyclic naphthenic molecules, enabling effective softening and processing of elastomers. It is widely used in manufacturing processes such as extrusion and molding, where it assists in dispersion of fillers and additives, and improves compound handling.
The product is suitable for use with natural rubber (NR), styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), polybutadiene rubber (PBR), EPDM, and butyl rubber. It is commonly used in applications such as microcellular sheets, LPG tubing, footwear components, and other molded or extruded rubber goods.
