High-purity Silane APTES – 3-Aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (CAS 13822-56-5) chemical used as a silane coupling agent
Product Overview

Silane APTES (3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane) is a bifunctional organosilane containing a reactive primary amino group and hydrolyzable ethoxy silane groups. The dual reactivity enables chemical bonding with inorganic substrates such as glass, metals, and mineral fillers, as well as interaction with organic polymers including thermosets, thermoplastics, and elastomers.

It is commonly used as an adhesion promoter, surface modifier, and coupling agent in composite systems, filled polymers, sealants, coatings, and foundry resins. Silane APTES is a low-viscosity liquid, soluble in alcohols and hydrocarbons, and readily soluble in water.

In industrial processing, it is incorporated into resin systems, used as a primer, or applied for pretreatment of fillers and substrates to improve interfacial compatibility between organic matrices and inorganic materials.

Key Benefits
  • Improves adhesion between organic polymers and inorganic substrates
  • Enhances filler dispersion in mineral-filled systems
  • Supports higher filler loading in compound formulations
  • Reduces viscosity in filled polymer systems
  • Functions as surface modifier, primer, or resin additive
Applications
  • Glass fiber and glass fabric composites (as size or finish component)
  • Mineral fiber insulation and abrasives (phenolic resin binder systems)
  • Foundry resins (phenolic, furanic, melaminic systems)
  • Sealants and adhesives (as additive or primer)
  • Paints and coatings (adhesion promoter to glass and metal)
  • Pretreatment of fillers such as silica, quartz, mica, talc, ATH, metal oxides
  • Mineral-filled polymers and HFFR cable compounds
Recommended Dosage

Typical usage levels depend on the substrate and application method. In filler pretreatment and resin modification systems, silane coupling agents are generally used in low percentage levels relative to filler or resin content as per formulation requirements.

“Recommended dosage may vary based on formulation and processing conditions. Users should verify dosage before commercial use.”
