Silane APTES (3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane) is a bifunctional organosilane containing a reactive primary amino group and hydrolyzable ethoxy silane groups. The dual reactivity enables chemical bonding with inorganic substrates such as glass, metals, and mineral fillers, as well as interaction with organic polymers including thermosets, thermoplastics, and elastomers.
It is commonly used as an adhesion promoter, surface modifier, and coupling agent in composite systems, filled polymers, sealants, coatings, and foundry resins. Silane APTES is a low-viscosity liquid, soluble in alcohols and hydrocarbons, and readily soluble in water.
In industrial processing, it is incorporated into resin systems, used as a primer, or applied for pretreatment of fillers and substrates to improve interfacial compatibility between organic matrices and inorganic materials.
